Missed connection + lure of Blacksburg = car rental

The trip to Blacksburg started off with a bang. More like a lot of rain and fog which kept our plane from landing at Logan, which kept us from going to DC on time. This whole thing meant we would miss our connection at DC and we'd have to wait till morning to fly to Roanoke. We ended up in Dulles at 11:00 pm and decided that we didn't want to stay at a hotel so we rented a car and drove to Blacksburg. 81 was foggy and pretty much exactly like I remembered it at late hours. Good thing I did all those late night 81 drives to prepare for this. We got in about 4 am and immediately crashed. Got up the next day, went to the football game which now gives us back to back 45-0 wins. Granted over crappy teams. I got to see 205A Barger the house I lived in first year of grad school. They put in a bathroom and it is awful, it took away part of the kitchen and two of the walls are pegboard. It's rediculous. All in all a good day, Hokie football, Souvlaki, Rivermill and apparently Xanja is being an angel. Time for day 2, which will include breakfast at Gillie's and dinner at the Homeplace. Should be a good day in Billy's burg.

Back in Black..sburg, I hit the sack...sburg

Everything is all set for my glorious return to Blacksburg, VA. If Xanja were making the trip I might never leave. Hokie football, hanging out with friends, Gillie's breakfast, Homeplace dinner, and other stuff I can't think of right now but will be awesome await. I'm sure Xanja isn't too pysched to have me gone for 5 days but she'll be fine and super excited upon my return. Grommit time for walkies.

I've gotta say it was a pretty good Labor Day weekend, full of no labor. VT opened the season with a nice win over NC State. The first half was complete garbage, but they stuck it out and made the most of all the penalties they were given. I hope that at somepoint this season commentators stop comparing Michael and Marcus and just focus on the game. This first game was rediculous. Xanja decided to chase a buck tonight on our way out of the park, which was super sweet. It took about half an hour to get her back and it was getting nice and dark and I wasn't sure what I was going to do. Ironically, just last night I bought her an led for her collar so that I could see her at night if need be. Not surprisingly she is fast asleep here next to me on her now 1 of 3 beds. I made another one this weekend, a medium instead of a large, for her little house (aka crate.) I want to get her used to going in there more and understanding that it isnt' always a bad thing so when we go to VA Beach for Thanksgiving she can go in there if she needs to and the plane right to COS for Christmas may go smoother. She is getting better and I think having a cushy bed makes a difference. Today should really be called No Labor Day, but who's counting.

I don't like onion rings, they make me gassy

So I drove to work yesterday. It wasn't raining like earlier in the week, I was just lazy and didn't ride my bike. I saw the gas stations were around $2.85 a gallon. Sadly, I was used to that and thought, eh that ain't too bad. Then on the drive home from work, the very same station was now at $3.29. I loudly proclaimed holy s to all those in the presence of my car, so just me, some bugs I'm sure and maybe some ghostriders. It's days like these when I wish I owned a gas station, although could I live with myself for jacking up prices for no reason. That's the beauty of the free market I guess. I think I'm gonna make a car that runs on precious metals. You can probably buy them cheaper than oil these days so.... If you want to help out you can either send me some money or jewlery, either or.
