See Spot, see Spot make spots

So NYC was fun. I got my much desired fish and chips from A Salt and Battery and declined to get the fried Mars bar this time. I just didn't have it in me after all the fried goodness. We went to a new place for brunch, the restaurant's name... Good. Was it? Eh, the vanilla pancakes weren't very vanilla and they weren't even as good as bisquick pancakes. Patsy's, however, was as good as always. I also tried a slice of Ray's (not Famous Original Rays) to compare the two. I think I like the less boastful Ray's. But they are both better than any pizza you can get in Natick. I got outta there late, but it only took about 3 hours to get home. Xanja had a bone, which she decided to break into little pieces and eat. This led to an upset stomach which led to coming home to find spots on the carpet. Can't blame her, I'd do the same thing too if I couldn't make it to a toilet. Oh well, maybe I'll rent a steam cleaner at some point to unxanja my carpet. Xanja says hi and recommends closing your nose if you come over anytime soon.

Ummm maybe not

So in my last post I was singing the praises of Win98. Still neat and all, but since most of my music on the disk has been ruined not quite the savior I once proclaimed it to be. Oh well, just means I need to rip music from my cd's, get a dvd burner, and have some good old fashioned fun with others. I was able to get enough music on DELTRONIPOD for the ride down to NYC (3 hr 30 mins on the nose, door to door pretty good). I'll be eating fish and chips this weekend among other things. Xanja says hi.

The leaky toilet (or why I kinda like Windows 98)

I sit here writing this on Ubuntu Hoary (linux) but my desktop is rocking some sweet Win98 love. Why? Well somehow I managed to corrupt the partition table on my external hard drive thus rendering it next to useless. After trying all sorts of ideas I couldn't get my data back. My windows machine would recognize the drive but it wouldn't read it, duh corrupted. I found this free program PC Inspector and it is working fairly well right now. I'm most concerned with recovering my music. It is recovering a lot of the files, but there are a lot new remixes (read files that have parts of other files in them now) that I will have to keep track of. Who knows maybe I will have to buy some of the music again, but I'd rather that than have to buy it all again (but it looks like lots of song are corrupt). Plus so far the inconsistencies seem to be in files that aren't that important. Who knows if I'll keep up this whole blog nonsense and I'm sure it won't be as funny or as good as others but who cares? And yes, Xanja is doing well.
